Hutchison
« on: Saturday 10 October 09 15:00 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am doing my husband’s family tree His great grandfather Thomas Wray Hutchison was born Londonderry 1871, he joined city of Glasgow police in 1891, his father Charles died I think in Antrim Londonderry his mother Mary Jane nee Quigg died at 142 Watt st Glasgow on 13/10/1915, his brother Charles  was informant for mother he lived 192 Waddell st Glasgow in 1915. Thomas Wray died 16/5/1952 at 6 Clark st Glasgow it was suicide.  I have a James b 5/11/1865 the year his parent’s married in Londonderry, Mary Anne 18/9/1869, William 17/12/1871, Joseph 17/12/1871, Thomas Wray 1871 (can't find his birth record). William 15/8/1875 (first one may have died) Charles b? (Can’t find his birth record). They are all born Coleraine Londonderry.  Can anybody find them in a census? Am going to Mitchell library next week to look at police records may find out more there.
Any help would be very much appreciated
Regard Janice

Hi Janice

This looks like Thomas in 1901:

Thomas W Hutchison 29, police constable b. Ireland
Christina Hutchison 19 b. Glasgow

Address: 42 William St, Glasgow Anderston

And possibly in 1891 before he joined the police, maybe the Mary Ann showing below was his sister that you show:

Alexander Neilans 21, Storeman Flour Mill b. Ireland
Mary Ann Neilaus 20, b. Ireland
Thomas W Hutchinson 18, boarder, Tramway Servant, b. Ireland

Address: 62 Waddell Street, Hutchesontown, Glasgow

There is a thread for this on TalkingScot...

It's always a good idea to let everyone know you've posted elsewhere, Janice...saves others wasting their time getting you the same information.   :)

Good to see we came to the same findings  ;D

Couldn't easily see any of the other family members with any confidence in the censuses - maybe mother and other siblings came over to Scotland after the 1901 census?

Thanks Monica
Yes it is good that you had the same findings or I would just have got so confused and it would have been my own fault. Thanks for looking for the rest of the family as you say they could have came over after the father died.
Regards Janice

Janice, don't be  :-[   When you first start out, you fire out in a million directions! I think the only point that Lenagh is making, if you find on other post elsewhere people find things, just add what's been found on your current post so that people can take it from there and add more new things.

Hope you find some new info on the Police Archives at the Mitchell  :) How sad that Thomas' life ended the way it did  :'(

Thanks  Monica
Yes I do understand and will try and do better, it is so confusing doing this and it would be a lot harder if there were no forums to get help from. How good you all are.

Hi Janice,

I was getting an error page when I tried to answer before.

Monica is correct...

We have two of the greatest discussion groups in TalkingScot and Rootschat with lots of people ready to help us with our searches.

Good luck with your continued search.  :)
