Hello

In the third quarter of 1959 there is a death registration for a Michael McLeary, aged 52, at Northumberland West. The GRO reference is 1b 371.

Parts of Northumberland West are not too distant from South Shields but there is no way of knowing whether or not this person is the same one that you are looking for.

There was a Michael McLeary born in 1907 in County Durham. From the 1911 census index, I think that his parents were called Patrick and Elizabeth and that they were both born in Ireland around 1863. Michael seems to have been their seventh child. The 1959 death registration could very well refer to this person.

There are two other death registrations for people called M McLeary in Birmingham - one in 1979 (aged 53) and the other in 1980 (aged 78). Both were called Michael. Each of these would seem to be less likely than the one shown above, in the North East.

There does not seem to be a marriage registration for a Michael McLeary that would fit within an appropriate timescale.
