Today I got a message from Lyn? who told me that she had Bakers and Offords in her family tree, and may have information for me.
I LOST IT!

Just noticed your message under this thread and what caught my eye was the interest you have in the Pledgers of Great Bardfield. I have no interest in the name myself but I do know there are lots of Pledgers in Arkesden and Ashen (neither of which are, so far as I can tell, included in IGI). In Ashen baptisms go from 1615-1779 (at least) and in Arkesden from 1753-1790 (at least).
If you already know this sorry to have been superfluous ;D

Thats strange, I've never had a Pledger query on here before, and this evening there's been two  8)

I've not been able to find a baptism for my Gt Bardfield chap - I really focussed on going forward. One day I'll chase it up !

Essex RO have made the registers for those 2 parishes available online for free from the date they started right up to almost modern tiimes.
I have not yet completed a transcript but if you want to tell me which bod(s) you seek I'll see what my notes tell me.
I have only really looked at the Baptisms so far but there are quite a few knocking about there
