Hi, this is probably information you have - but just to get things straight:
The IGI shows George Wheeler marrying Phoebe Mogg at Kinswinford in 1819.
The IGI shows daughters of George and Phoebe Wheeler named
Ann -1820
Mary- 1826
Elizabeth - 1829
Maria - 1832
Jane -1834
Phoebe - 1836
all baptised at Old Swinford.
There is also a Richd. Wheeler baptised in 1822 - the IGI has him as the son of Richd. and Phoebe. However there is no marriage of a Richard Wheeler to a Phoebe on the IGI, nor baptisms of any other children of a Richard and Phoebe Wheeler in that area. (There are two in Reading, in 1822 and 1823 - which would make it unlikely that it is the same family)
So the father's name may be a mistake in the transcription, or perhaps whoever wrote the original absentmindedly wrote Richd. twice.
In 1841 George and Phoebe Wheeler are in Old Swinford. Children in the household are : Richard -15
Maria - 9
Jane -6
Phoebe- 4
William - 1
George is an Ag. Lab. Richard is a potter.
As the 1841 census doesn't show relationships we can't be sure that Richard is the son of George and Phoebe, although his placing in the list of household members suggests that he is: nephews and nieces etc. tend to come after sons and daughters.
In 1851 Phoebe Wheeler is recorded in Bobbington, Shropshire
Thomas Rowley head M 58
Maria Rowley wife M 56 Claverley, Shropshire
Richard Wheeler F-i-L W 83 Ag Lab Worfield, Shropshire
Ann Felton mother W
Phoebe Wheeler S-i-L M 50 Ag lab wife Swinford, Staffordshire
Phoebe Wheeler Niece U 19 daur Swinford, Staffordshire
From this it seems that George's father is named Richard, so it wouldn't be surprising that his (George's) eldest son is named after him.
Also in 1851
Richard Wheeler born at Amblecote aged 28 is a potter - so this is consistent with the age of the Richard baptised in 1822, and with the occupation of the Richard Wheeler in 1841 (his age would have been rounded down to 15 in that census).
