Rowlinson & Hurst in Cheadle

I would like to know the first names of my great grandparents (and any other info really)but i aren't having much luck!

My nans maiden name was Hurst and she originated from Cheadle, Stoke on Trent. I have looked up on a site and found that her mothers maiden name was Rowlinson.

They had quite a lot of children (7 ish) but the only names i know are:
Constance Mary (my nan) born 26.06.1924
Frederick
Kathleen
Terence

I don't know when their parents married or were born, but both parents died quite young as i remember my Nan saying that her & her older siblings helped bring up the younger children

All have unfortunately died now except for Kathleen but she doesn't remember anything and she would also like to know what i can find out.

Please help if you can. xxx

Hello Memm, Welcome to Rootschat.

There seem to have been lots of Hurst offspring born in Cheadle between 1911 and 1925, with mother's maiden name Rowlinson, including those names you have mentioned. They can be found on www.freebmd.org.uk

The only possible marriage I can see is in 1905 and in a different part of the country but I'll give you it anyway, it could still be yours.

I forgot to say that if you send for your nan's birth certificate, it should have both parents' names on it, which would make it much easier to find their marriage and to track down their own births and families.

If you use the birth registration reference for Constance M Hurst,  given on FreeBMd, you can buy a birth certificate for seven pounds.

There's a1910 marriage in Cheadle Ada Rowlinson to Edwin R Hurst..

If Ada and Edwin are right there are a couple of deaths on FreeBMD which fit,Ada Hurst 1931 age 44 Stoke on trent,Edwin R Hurst 1934 age 48,Cheadle.

That looks far more likely than the one I found earlier and fits with the dates of the birth registrations too.
