Jackie,

I've just checked the 1841 census information for Mary Edge you gave and it just backs the Marriage information of Richard Edge and Elizabeth Holland. You mentioned the witness names of Joseph Dangerfield and Mary Johnson. Well I'll go to the foot of my stairs Mary is a servant to the Johnson family and living a couple of doors away a Sarah Dangerfield and son David.

Why not try asking for a parish reg look-up re.the marr.of Richard + Sarah Leeke, it probably wont have the fathers names, but
witnesses could be of help.

Adrian and All:

It looks like my family, Leeke, may intersect with Edge in Ellsemere.

I have one Sarah Leeke (b. 2 Jul 1795, m. 21 Feb 1821 to John Higginson in Ellesmere). If this is not the same Sarah Leeke, the families surly did know each other.

Please let me know if you have any more on the Leekes.

I'm actively researching the Edge family for my partner, specifically focusing on the Edges connected to Bridgnorth, Wem and wider Shropshire. My main line is with Alfred Edge (1866-1936) of Bridgnorth, who married Matilda Brown. Your Edge's may be connected to the Bridgnorth Edges. If you have any interest in this line, I have a good deal of research already compiled that I'd be happy to share. Photos, biographical information, news articles etc.

Hi,

I am unsure about Richard Edge's birthplace and family. It's possible we could have a family connection, but there are many Edge families around the Shropshire area and also in Cheshire.

I sent you a pm

Kind regards
Adrian

Hi,

My ancestor Richard Edge & family moved from Ellesmere to West Bromwich (Hargates Lane) mid 1830's, probably for work. His profession was a Blacksmith, and there must have been lots of work around the Industrialised Black Country. I was born and bred in Greets Green (Great Bridge)  and went to George Salter High School.

I moved from West Brom over 35 years ago.

Regards
Adrian
