Edge family of Ellesmere

Hi everyone,

My X5 great Grandfather was a Richard Edge born 1806 Ellesmere who moved with his family to West Bromwich, Staffordshire and was a Blacksmith. Does anyone have a connection with Richard or any Edge family from the Ellesmere area around that time that maybe able to help.

Richard Edge widower + Elizabeth Holland widow - both of this parish
Witnesses Joseph Dangerfield + Mary Johnson

As both are widowed -accounts for Eliza age 9 in 1841 census

I've already checked the one you mentioned Richard Edge born 05 JUN 1808 Wem, Shropshire, but his death is listed 11 Oct 1808 on familysearch.

Richard Edge 17 feb 1811 Ellesmere -parents Thomas + Elizabeth.

ps Re.the baptism at Wem. I found one of my ancestors on this site that gave a bapt.+ death date,on checking the actual parish reg.
it was a birth + bapt.date.

Wow the information about the marriage is very interesting.

My direct relation is Mary Ann Edge born 1829, Ellesmere so the Elizabeth on the 1841 census wasn't her mother.

I can't find Mary Ann Edge on the 1841 census because she isn't with the family however I do have her marriage certificate which gave her father Richard Edge (Blacksmith) which matches the family on the 1841 census.

The trouble is who was Richard first wife must have married near Ellesmere.

Can you have a look for Mary Ann Edge on the 1841 census maybe she's with her mother family or possibly a servant?

Great stuff Jackie because I had no idea.
