Scattered Homes in Camberwell
« on: Friday 02 October 09 16:47 BST (UK) »
Yet another attempt to find the Rathbones.  On the 1901 census Louisa Rathbone age 6 was living with foster mother Leticia Allsop in Camberwell. John Rathbone 2 was living with Annie Dale. 61 Crystal Palace rd Dulwich. both these homes were " Scattered Homes" for needy children.  Does anyone know where or how I can get information about their admittance, parents etc? [I have their parents George and Clara both in the hospital]

Hi Muttley
You need to either contact or visit the london metropolitan archives (some rootschatters get there and if you have specific dates may do a lookup for you, but it is a rare opportunity to lay your hands on the original books)
The camberwell board of guardian records will be your starting point-then it is a question of hunting through the records for the scattered homes. Dawnsh was a brilliant help for one of my searches a WHILE BACK-WORTH A PM TO HER FOR SOME EXPERT HELP

Hi muttly

I should be up at the LMA next week. I'll see what records, if any, survive and are on open access.
