Peter McGovern

Trying to find the birth details of Peter McGovern who is my gg grandfather. We were told that he was born in Ireland in about 1848 and left for Scotland at age 19. His father was James McGovern and mother was Janet Milloy. If anyone has any info, etc. I would appreciate hearing from you.

Unfortunately, civil registration of births in Ireland didn't start until 1864 so there will be no birth certificate. To search for church records (if they exist) you need to know the family's religion and where they lived (parish if not townland, not just the county).
