HALE Burials - Sherborne
« on: Thursday 01 October 09 15:06 BST (UK) »
Is anyone able to let me know if any HALE family members were buried in Sherborne churchyard between 1790 and 1870?  I am looking for John d. between 1807 and 1840; Esther or Hester between 1841 and 1851; James between 1841 and 1851 and Jane c1839.

Grateful for any information.

My thanks

Pat W

Hi Pat,

The only burials I can find up to 1851 are as follows:

Jane Hale   71  7 Nov 1840 Sherborne
James Hale   60  5 Mar 1834  Sherborne
Joseph Hale   79  19 May 1843  Sherborne

John Hale  79  24 Mar 1819  Brize Norton.

I included that last one as I don't think that Brize is far away nor is Minster Lovell where there were quite a few other Hales.

Hope one or more of these are yours.
Elizabeth

Thank you liz, v grateful. Have been looking for a birth date for James as no record of his birth in Sherborne recs yet he is mentioned in his father's will, so extra glad to have that. Thanks also for John, Brize Norton, and the rest. The Sherborne, Brize Norton and Minster L Hales are all related but as they stick with family names it can be difficult to sort one from another, so always glad for some extra clarity.

My thanks

Hi Pat,

Glad to help.  Do you want all the other burials at M.L. listed?

Marriages or Baptisms?

Let me know and I will sort them out over the next day or two.

Elizabeth

Hi Pat,

I am sorry but I made an error with the age of John at death, it should read John Hale buried 24.3.1819 at Brize Norton aged 60.

Other burials (1813 - 1851) include:

Alice Hale 17.4.1813 Brize Norton aged 24
Anne Hale 21.1.1818 Brize Norton aged 32

Esther Hale 5.8.1841 Minster Lovell aged 84
James Hale 10.12.1842 Minster Lovell aged 50

The only marriage listed was at Sherborne (1800 - 1837) and was between Joseph Hale and Jane Busby on 17.10.1803

There were no baptisms listed 1813 - 1837.

Hope there is something of interest  here for you.

Regards,
Elizabeth

You are very welcome Pat.

Stupid question, but have you checked the IGI for Sherborne as there are quite a few Hales there.

I haven't looked at Minster Lovell or Brize Norton, so there may be some there as well.
