Trying to find parents of Thomas Thallan (born1825/6)
« on: Wednesday 30 September 09 15:17 BST (UK) »
Hi there.

I'm hitting a familar brick wall when I try to find the birth records of someone born in Scotland before 1855. This particular person is Thomas Thallan (or Thallon) born 1826/27 died 1863.

I'm trying to trace the Thallon/Thallan line back to Fife where I think they all originated but this particular one has given me the slip. He was married to Margaret Wood in 1850 in Cannongate and had 6 children.

If anyones up for a challenge this is a tricky one.

Hi Newvrovski

Not sure if you are just researching the name Thallan or are interested in this particular line.

This is an old RC post on the Thomas Thallan and Margaret Wood line www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,221850.0.html - Murder in 1890  ::)

This post doesn't actually show Thomas' parents details but you could contact the original poster to see whether she has this info or alternatively, you could check Thomas' death cert on Scotlands People to see what it shows for his parents.

Researching the prospective link between Thomas Thallan and my Thallon line.

Interesting stuff in that thread. I recently found that the murdered Margaret had an illegitimate son in 1879, hope this wasn't one of the motives of the murder.
