well there is this death...sad  (is he too young to be the right fellow? He'd have only been 18 at date of marriage)
Deaths March Q. 1918 Richard Hodgson   age 25 / Whitehaven vol. 10b p.843

but also a marriage ( but this would have had her already pushing 40, but not  impossible)
Marriages March Q. 1923
Hodgson Mary L  to a William Milburn /  Whitehaven / vol. 10b p. 965

Hi Richard Hodgson sounds as though it might fit, it certainly would tie in with an earlier marriage, though as far as I am aware Mary didn't have any other names...according to my dad and Aunt LOL!!. I have been trying to post the letter from Beatrice and her photo but am rapidly running out of time as I have to go to work in a few minutes. I will try again tomorrow. with that.Lincsbabe ;D

There actually is a Milburn family in New Westminster...Was looking for a CEF signup but couldn't see one for this age... Both or one of the BMD finds could be just a red herring...I added more to the above reply while you were posting re: ages

p.s. jacquie proved who the parents were, and found the only possible birth as Mary Louisa reply #5

Sorry it was AMBLY who found the  birth

Well go figure there is a Mary MILBURN 1887  left in 1923 from Liverpool  to Saint John NB a William also on board.. If you get a sub to see if they are travelling together & where they are headed .... or perhapssomeone can look it up for you... ( please don't start a new thread for a request)

Note this still may be a red herring/coincidence...proof is always needed before hanging one's hat on any information

Hi

I found a Form 30A for Mary Louise Milburn travelling from London to St. John, NB in July 1923 aboard the Montcalm.

Mary is 36, accompanied by husband William Milburn.  Mary states she has never been in Canada before and intends to reside permanently in Canada.  They are destined for Brandon, Manitoba.

Mary's nearest relative in the UK is her mother, Mrs. Katherine Lee, #1 Rosemary Lane, Whitehaven.

On the ship's manifest, it shows Mary is a housewife and William is an engineer.

On his Form 30A, William states he is 40, his intended occupation is Railway employee, his birthplace was Whitehaven, Cumberland, his citizenship is Canadian.  He has lived in Canada before at 327 18th or 8th St., Brandon, MB.  Previous port of entry was Quebec on 10-8-1920 (I think...year is smudged); departed Canada from St. John, NB, Dec 12, 1922; reason...holiday after married.  His nearest relative is his brother, John R. Milburn, in Brandon, MB.

This looks like it could just be your Mary!!

Here's the link to the Manitoba Vital Statistics index

http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php

A search for Mary Milburn will turn up a death in October 1923.

A search in the marriages will turn up a marriage for William Milburn in 1925.

Great Susan! Well, how do you like them apples...a little sleuthing on all our parts can go a long way...We have a last name, but the lady is likely living so we need to tread lightly on the privacy laws...Probably won't find a marriage though as she must have just been born then...

One other little tidbit I've found....

If you search the BC death registrations on pilot.familysearch.org there is a death in 1966 for a gentleman who just might be the spouse of Mary's daughter.  Is it okay to give this info....I haven't mentioned names??

There's something very satisfying about putting all these puzzle pieces together!!

Great job everyone!!

Susan
