Hello Theresa,

There's not a listing for Whittaker on the 1857 Griffiths Valuation extracts for Co. Donegal.

Theresa- Strabane is actually in Co.Tyrone not Donegal. The county will make a big difference when searching for records.

If you have any names and approx. date someone might be able to help.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Any info. on Whittaker's please from early 1800's....
« Reply #58 on: Saturday 27 September 08 11:49 BST (UK) »
Would anyone have any information on any Whittaker/Whittager (sic) people from Tyrone or Co Donegal that they would be able to give me please?
ie census/baptisms etc.,

I am trying to track down my own but am finding it difficult and am wondering if I can get lots of info. I can put it all together and see what I get and if anyone is mine.

My last know "ancestor" died in Stranorlar workhouse in 1941, so anything backwards from there would be great.

Hoping someone can help.

Kind regards

Baptism 1884? still looking
« Reply #59 on: Monday 26 January 09 10:21 GMT (UK) »
Good morning
I am wondering if anyone can get access to Baptism records please?
I am looking for the baptism of my g.grandfather who according to his birth certificate was born in Beltany/Beltony in Raphoe.
He was born in August 1884.  On the certificate his name was William Whittager but his parents were under Whitager.  The name is also Whittaker.  So he could be under either spelling.
The churches he may have been baptised in were Raphoe Church of Ireland.
Possibly Cof I in Convoy or Clonleigh too.
He is the only child I can find at the moment but I am hoping that if his baptism can be found then maybe if he had siblings, they may be mentioned too.
His parents married in 1877 and so possibly had children up until 1900?
If anyone can help, it would be brilliant.
Many thanks
Kind regards

Hi to both of you, Tony I have replied on a PM, so hope you got it, thank you again for letting me know, it also says the 1901 is due out at the end of 2009 - Chrissy present!
I have seen Lindel's site, thanks too for that but sadly none of mine seem to be on it -  :-[
But thank you for letting me know I might not have known.
Kind regards
