Hi Christopher

Thanks for your email.  Yes, there was a William on the records, who I am hoping is mine but I can't find anything else on his time there.

Regards

Hi Christopher

Thanks for your message, yes I know her name was Spence and she and her family came from Milltown.
I have found other Whittakers from the Sheercloon and Stranorlar area - seem to be everyone but David!
Regards

Hello cranstone,

Do you know in which church in Strabane the marriage took place?

Hiya Theresa,

When were your Whittaker ancestors in Co. Donegal ??? There's no mention of the name in the online extracts of Griffith's Valuation. The Valuation took place in the county in 1857.

Hi There There,  8)

The Whittaker surname doesn't appear on either the 1796 Donegal Flax Growers list or Griffiths Valuations for Donegal which took place in 1857.

Have you any idea of the denomination of the family or when they were in the county?

Looking for someone in 1891?????
« Reply #50 on: Tuesday 11 September 07 18:01 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

I have still yet to track down my g.grandfather and his family in 1891 and wondered if anyone can help please?
He was born in Donegal in 1884 and then in 1901 he was in Scotland, so in 1891 he could have been in either place.  He'd have been about 7/9 years old and his name was William Whittager/Whittaker (or variants).
Many thanks for any help.

There is no 1891 census for Ireland- the 1st complete census is 1901. Only fragments of earlier ones survive for certain areas.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Have you tried searching for him in 1891 Scottish census?
