Thank you for your email but I still can't get through to you to reply to you.

You have the "maximum amount of Posts" - but I'm not sure what that means you have to do!

Have a good Christmas.

Regards

Welcome to RootsChat, thady.

It looks as though you forgot that fantastic free website.

Is it the one that Scotmum posted one about Various 1901 and 1911 Census returns for Donegal ???

Chris.

Hello Christopher and Thady

Thanks for your messages, sorry Thady I didn't know you had replied until I got Christopher's message and saw yours there too.

I will have a look at the site and see if any of my areas are mentioned.

Many thanks

Have just had a look but it doesn't seem to have any of the area I am looking for, but worth a try.  Thanks

Hello cranstone,

I looked at Griffith's Valuation for Donegal which took place in the county in 1857. There were none listed so
I checked to see if there were any people with this surname listed anywhere in Ireland during the period 1848 - 64 and found several.

Do you by any chance know the surname of David's wife as marriages usually took place in the Parish in which the bride lived? It's possible that David was a temporary resident in the Parish and never thought about giving his home Parish address.

Here's the link to the other thread about David Whittaker ... Why can't I find....

Chris

Hello cranstone,

I've linked to your other thread Sheercloon records for 1877? which makes it slightly easier to see replies.
As far as I'm aware the LDS records are a list of records submitted by individuals. It appears to me no one has submitted your Whittakers. I think one of the few ways to check the county where your Whittaker family lived is to use Griffith's Valuation of Ireland 1848 - 1864. There are a few Williams on the list so possibly that was the christian name of the father of David and his siblings.
