Military Barracks Armagh
« on: Friday 25 September 09 22:18 BST (UK) »
I wondered whether anyone could help me.  I'm trying to find out any info on William Derrington who was a Sergt AHC at the Military Barracks Armagh.  He was married to a Julia Anne Hunt.  2 of his children (William Thomas Henry & John Joseph) were born whilst he was stationed there.  I believe he may have been killed but not sure how.  How do I go about searching for any records?  I have a civil birth record for John Joseph from IFHF.

Many thanks

Clare

Sorry.  I know the 2 children were born approx 1870 and 1871. I think William was killed a few years later.

Many thanks

To start with, IGI (www.familysearch.org) lists the two sons-
1. William Thomas Henry Derrington born 1 May 1870 Co.Armagh
2. John Joseph Derrington born 18 Dec.1871 Co.Armagh

Index to civil registrations is now online (free)-
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=collectionDetails;t=searchable;c=1408347

Did a search and found what seems to be William's death-
William DERRINGTON death 1873 Armagh registration district volume 1 page 26 (age 35)- so born c1838.
Certificate will list name, age, marital status, occupation, cause of death, name of informant. It will not list other details like wife (unless informant), children, parents, birthdate, birthplace, place of burial.
