Mulgrove Street, Hull?
« on: Friday 25 September 09 20:06 BST (UK) »
Has anyone heards of Mulgrove Street in Hull?  I'm aware of MulGRAVE Street near St Mark's Street but this dates from sometime around the 1880's.  I have ancestors who, according to the Sculcoates parish records were baptised while living in MulGROVE Street in the early years of the 19th century (around 1814).  Other  members of the same family, the McDonalds, were baptised at around that time when they were living in Scott Street, so perhaps it was near there?

Hi

I wonder if it was just a spelling error. Check out this link and see what you think.

Hi don't know if this helps but Scott street is opposite Mulgrave st. It must be a spelling mistake as i don't know any Mulgrove st now that exists

Interesting your pseudonym is Wincolmlee and Scott st is part of Wincolmlee. You must have a Hull connection

Hi Dennis,
I was born there and lived there for 25 years until 1990 so I guess I do!
Evie's post solves the mystery as the link to Paul Gibson's site explains all- it ran along the line of what later became Lockwood  St. (at its northern end) between Scott St. and Green La.- I'm talking 1810-1820s here.
Many thanks
