HAWKINS FAMILY

hi i hope i post this in the right place im new :) i wonder can any one help with my great grandfather henry hawkins born in 1819 some one had gave me info that he was born in charlton but there are two places called charlton so i dont know what place for certain that he came from he then spent his life in whitstable and i was told again he married twice  im a bit confused and just need to know if this is true as i do not want to put the wrong info on my tree i can not find him on the census either . the only info i have for him is this  henry hawkins born 1819 married caroline jordan  in blean thay had children allso a daughter but i cant seem to find her unless she died as a baby,  i do know henry died in 1875. blean,:)

I think you may have been  misinformed as the birthplace of Henry looks like Chartham to me

thank you that does look right, as little henry age 3 on the 1871 census is my great grandad, all so i did not know there was a joseph my mum only thought there was john, jesse thomas and henry,  how exciting, so henry was never married before caroline then and there was not a daughter . thank you :)

There is a marriage for a Henry HAWKINS to an Esther HUDSON in the Blean registration district 1845 http://freebmd.rootsweb.com so I would say it does look quite possible that Henry was married before (despite the 1851 census giving his status as single) and that Joseph was possibly a son of this first marriage.  The parish registers and/or birth, marriage and death certificates should help you to sort it out.

yes thankyou it does sound likely, also i noticed there was a amelia hudson aged 4 months on the 1851 census couled she be a daughter of henry and maybe the mother died in childbirth ;)
