Skurrie, thanks for that, this could be a brother maybe? needs looking into, Found a Daniel Cartledge, glass etcher, b.1843, England, age 38, working in Glasgow.....Skoosh

Skurrie, found this, I don't think they're mine, Donald Forbes b.1813, Scotland, glassmaker, wife Christina, b.Scotland, glass obscurer? in 1851 they're at 56 Tobacco Box Hill,  Amblecote, Stourbridge. Children Jane Menzies b.Scotland 1831 x Joseph Chesterton, glasscutter. Donald b.Scotland 1837 & Robert  b.Wordesley, Staffs 1839. Joseph (was the son of William Chesterton, watch/clockmaker) b.Harborne, Staffs 1824, living at Little Pig Inn, Amblecote, Stourbridge, he  married Jane, Oldswinford, 14 Dec' 1851. Hope this is of some use....Skoosh.

Also have a look at MI's around Aberdeen loads of Forbes from places like Turriff, Tough, Rayne etc. including John Forbes.  Maybe as already suggested just living in Edinburgh, but born in Aberdeenshire which is just two borders away across the Firth of Fourth.

Caithness is only up the road and across from there though,  and the other one which currently my brain will not compute,  urghhh!
On the way home we went to both factories/salesrooms which are across the road from each other near Stirling.  Stuart Glass/Stewart Glass.  A few years ago on a trip we took to see a friend in John O'Groats John took us to see the Caithness shop where they actually blow the glass.  Fascinating.
We bought some early xmas presents (seconds) which unless you really studied them you would not know.
You may still find all the relatives of John Forbes in the cemetries around Aberdeen,  Loads of Forbes buried there, some of which are distantly related to me.
