In the 1836 Landsborough List of Inhabitants of Stevenston and Saltcoats:
LAMBIE, Alex KILPATRICK, Susan, 6, 2, Townhead
("6" is believed to be total number in house, "2" is believed to be number of "Communicants" and "Townhead" is believed to be "Townhead Street, Stevenston")
The hand-written "Landsborough Lists" of 1819, 1822 and 1836 pre-dated the official Censuses.
Dr. Landsborough used his own form of shorthand regarding additional information; eg. children. This shorthand was interpreted as accurately as possible.
