Marr cert - where is it?

could anyone tell me where i could obtain a marriage cert on my late sister as the church has now closed where she was married.have tryed the local registrar office who say the church has it.
holy trinity church,
spring street,
bury.

thats nonsense, the Church may well have it in their orginal Registers, but they would have had to make a return to the Civil Authorities to record the marriage, so I cant see how the local RO can fob you off !


Failing that, a GRO Index serarch will show it, and allow you to obtain a copy.
