Cant find a record of death???
« on: Sunday 20 September 09 18:57 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have just had a major breakthrough on my Dorbon tree thanks to the new records available on Ancestry.  After almost 8 years of searching, I have now found the burial details for Hannah Dorbon.

She was buried on the 22nd October 1843 in St Pancras parish church.  However, this still hasnt helped me find a record of her death on GRO so I can order her death certificate.  I would really like to trace this to find out why she died and who registered her death.

I had previously trawled through the GRO indexes for this period without success but thought now I know the actual date of burial, then this will be easier but not so ???

Is it likely that her death was never registered or is it more likely this has been incorrectly transcribed?  I have tried lots of different variations of the name DORBON but still cannot find her.

Any help would be very much appreciated :)

I'm wondering whether a fresh pair of eyes can spot what I've missed

Hannah Dorbon, Iria  ;)

I've looked for both Dorbon (only a John) and Hannah  -  nothing looks possible  -  not even a name which sounds like Dorbon Q3 or Q4 1843 Middlesex  :-\

Hi Iria and Mum44

I found the same - nothing even close to Dorbon - just cant think of any other variations of the name.  I'm beginning to think that the death wasnt registered.

Well, that part of he GRO index is typed  -  so maybe it was registered but didn't survive the first transcription   :-\

Have you tried posting on the Middlesex board in case anyone has access to originals ?

Hi Mum44

That sounds like a good idea - didn't think of it not being transcribed!  I'll try the Middlesex board.

Thanks again for your help.

It has to be there somewhere, because you could not bury the body without the death being registered  :D

I hope you get lucky on the Middlesex board  :)
