Ellen Denham to Toronto in 1912
« on: Thursday 17 September 09 14:01 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping someone can help me with a quick lookup for marriage or death records for Ellen Denham. She was born in England (birth registered in district of Pancras)  on November 29, 1890, and left Liverpool on the Corsican on July 26, 1912. The passenger list shows her destination as Toronto and her intended occupation as "Domestic".

I checked the Toronto city directories for 1912-23 and couldn't find her.

Thanks.

Hello I can't do a look up for you, but ellen Denham is part of our family and we have been hunting for her for some time. If it is the same person she had a twin sister and 2 brothers. It would be good to compare notes and see how we link up. You can buy unites on Ancestry to check Canadian records I have done it in the past.

Hi, Sue!

I was trying to help out a Hazel on a different genealogy site when I started this thread back in 2009. Nothing's come of it.

Hazel did say the following:

Discovered another marriage for their mother and went from there. Ellen and her twin sister Florence were living with her their Step Father Henry Archibald Campbell. Girls named Tilly and Eva.and two of their older brothers. (1901 cen.)

Their father George Denham died very young and Sarah Denham nee Campkin married again to Henry Archibald Campbell. School records (1901) show them being taken to school by Archibald and their names were given as Eva and Matilda. This was the clue that we needed about a new marriage

Sarah died and Henry married again to a Mary - no surname given so not sure about this as cannot find a marriage. The twins were living with them aged l9 at tje address pf 113 Farringdon Road Buildings. This address seems to have occurred regularly

Still looking for Ellen Mary Denham - Matilda or Tilly.

Regards,

mat

Hello again
I know hazel we are related somehow - Ellen's sister is her grandmother and her brother Albert mine.
I discovered the second marriage. The girls are with Henry on the 1911.
So you are just helping her! She asked me to look, and reply as she couldn't, so confusion reigns.
Best wishes
Sue
