parish records lookup please
« on: Thursday 17 September 09 13:08 BST (UK) »
If anyone has access to parish records for Kirkham and Medlor please could they help. There are two Thomas Lingards on the censuses both born about 1836/38.One is born at Medlor and the other at Kirkham.
Both have fathers called John.
Ihave been unable to find a birth for either on the IGI and am trying to separate the two out on a family tree so need their baptism/birth details.
Many thanks for any help.

Hi,

I've found two birth records for Thomas LINGART in Fylde, the registration district for Medlar-with-Wesham and Kirkham,

Thomas LINGART    Mar Q 1838    Fylde    21  377

Thomas LINGART    Dec Q 1839    Fylde    21  369

Do these help?

Regards
Daisy

Using the site given by Galium you can also find an Ambrose, Nanny and Miles with mmn WILKINSON, so I think this looks like the family in 1841 and 1851,

1841  HO107/496/6  f.8  p.9  Kirkham
Greenhalgh with Thistleton

LINGERT
John        35    Cotton Weaver
Mary       35
William    10
James      8
Thomas    3
Ambrose    7months      all born in County

1851  HO107/2269  f.90  p.2  Greenalgh With Thistleton

LINGARD
John        Head    49    Ag Lab                     Lancashire Greenhalgh
Mary        Wife    49    Hand Loom Weaver         "             "
Thomas     Son    13    Farmers Serv                 "           Medlar
Ambrose    Son     9    Scholar                          "           Esprick
Nanny      Daur     5       "                                "             "
Miles        Son      2                                        "             "

The later Thomas seems to be the son of William and Nancy, as the later children also have mmn BROWN/E.

1841  HO107/496/14  f.16  p.1  Kirkham
Roseacre

LINGARD
William     40    Labourer
Nancy     35

John       10
Isabella    8

1851  HO107/2269  f.124  p.3  Treales, Roseacre, and Wharles

LINGARD

Nancy     Wife    49    Labr Wife      "      Treals
Thomas    Son    11    Ag Lab          "      Rosacre
Nancy     Daur     7    Scholar         "          "
Jane       Daur     5        "                "          "

Which census do you have with two Thomas's with fathers John?

I hope this doesn't confuse! 1841 census John SWIGART 1791 (should be lingard) with children, ellen, john, william, alice and thomas (1832/6) and 1881, the son William (57) is a rush manufacturer the same as his late father John.  John's wife must have died before 1841 as she does not appear on any census.
The other branch is John Lingard 1803 marries Mary Wilkinson 1851 census which you rightly have from Greenhalgh.
On the 3 marriage certs for son Thomas Lingard it does state that his father John is deceased, but to tie this up a baptism or birth , or mother's name would help!
