Hi KR

According to Genuki

GUYDER BOTTOM, scattered houses, in the township and parish of Silkstone, 1˝ miles N. of Penistone.

Reading this I would say it is actually in Silkstone

Hi KR

I have just looked at another page and it says that Guyder bottom is 1.4 miles West of Silkstone so there is not much in it , that's if  the measurements are accurate.

I can see why you are wondering :)

Thanks Evie,

Can't find a baptism at Silkstone, so it might be worth looking at Penistone.

Hi KR,

It's certainly worth looking for a Penistone baptism.  My ggggrandmother lived in Hoylandswaine, she was baptised in Penistone and married in Silkstone.  Her mother, who also was born in Hoylandswaine, was baptised in Penistone and married in Sheffield.

Hi Libby,

I have just ordered the Penistone bap fiche at my local LDS, so hopefully I might find Mary Hinchliffes baptism.

Thanks
KR  :)

KR, I am looking for the Crossley baptisms at Penistone, so far with no luck. The one I am particularly interested in is Susannah, who married William Smith at Penistone in 1827, I need to know who her parents were.If you can help when the fische comes I would be very grateful. It appears that the Crossleys were prominent in the local society, so I am puzzled why there is so little, or perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place.Regarding Gutter Bottom, there is also the possibility of a baptism at Thurlstone.

Hi Roger,

Will look out for Susannah Crossley when the fiche arrive, they may take some time to arrive.

Do you know when the Church at Thurlstone dates from ?
