As useful as this database is, there do however appear to be omissions.  I've come across a number of parish register entries which aren't reflected in the database so if you can't find what you're looking for in the database don't assume that it doesn't exist.

I'll second what Jay said, there do appear to be omissions so the parish registers are by no means complete.

Do you know that some entries have an   *   before them and they only appear if you start you search with an *

There are 5541 entries like this - it seems to be when there is a query about the spelling of a name.

I agree. it's a huge project, and great to use.

I doubt very much whether there would be any funding available to do a similar project in Lancashire though. More's the pity.

Hi,
I've been using the following website for Lancashire. I used to be able to search the entire county but for some reason I can now only search an individual parish. Still a good tool though. http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/indexp.html

Gaz
Elsby (Cheshire, Lancashire, Staffs and Scotland), Buffey (Staffs, Wales and Lancashire),
Bent (Leigh, Lancashire),
Marshall (Lancashire),
Battersby (Leigh, Lancashire),
McLuskey (Scotland),
Kempton (Scoltland),
Smallwood (Cheshire)
Sharratt (Lancashire)
