allen family
« on: Sunday 13 September 09 10:38 BST (UK) »
I am looking a possible family, surname of Allen who's grandparents were, Mabel and Albert Allen of Wellingborough in Northants.  The closest death in this family I have is of Albert Geofrey Allen who died 7 Oct 1995 who was their son;  I am interested because Mabel is the possible daughter of my great grandfather Alfred Wood who eventually married Mabels mother Emma in 1930;  Alfred was my grandfathers dad who left the family home as his wife, my great grandmother had moved another man into their home while he was away.  Alfred moved to live in Wellingborough and there met Emma who it seems were a couple in 1911 census as i have them, together at Cromwell Place number 25;  I beleive tow of the children in this household were his, mabel who married George V Allen and a son Albert Frederick Robinson b in 1998;  alfred and mable could not marry until my great grandmother passed which was in 1930; Any help appreciated;  I have tried national archives in hope of finding some info on Emma and Alfreds grandson Albert Geofrey Allen son of Mabel to no avail.

Hi Eise

I think Albert Frederick Robinson must have been born in 1898 and not 1998 ;D

Why don't you email the Evening Telegraph as they have a section for people searching for lost local friends and rellies.Someone might know them or they may read it themselves.

I find you posting confusing. I think you have your Emma/Mabels mixed up in last sentence.

Ok is this how it goes;
Mabel and Albert are illegitimate children of Emma ROBINSON and Alfred WOOD.
In 1901 Emma and children are living with her Mother.
1911 Emma/Alfred and kids are living as husband/wife
1930 Emma/Alfred marry

Mabel marries George Allen?
Marriage, only one I can find;
George ALLAN
Mabel ROBINSON
September 1933
Glanford.B. 7a 1939
She would have been 40ish

HI All

On the 1891 census Wellingborough
Rg12/1212 Pg 32, Folio 19, Sch 201 2 Court 1 Buckwell (End?).

Mary Ann Robinson Head Wid 46 Lacemaker Poddington Beds
Emma Daur S 18 Rag Sorter Little Harrowden
Alfred Son S 14 Farm Labourer Wellingboro'
ELiza Daur 6 Wellingboro'

Amazing how one census differs to another.  :)

Having transcribed most of Little Harrowden records there is
no mention of the family having lived there.

Although we already know this, yet it is a shame they haven't
recorded Father,

Emma Robinson had a male child in the Wellingborough
Workhouse called Albert Frederick Robinson born 5 Mar 1898.

I really like Workhouse records and have been trying to transcribe
later ones for Wellingborough having done the 1867 upwards already.

From 1914 they have the cause of death if you can decipher it.  :)
