In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

I see from my Halifax street map there are two almshouses: Joseph Crossley's at Arden Road and Sir Francis Crossley's beside Belle Vue park. It doesn't make any difference to the use of the Ebenezer Chapel, of course!

Hi Maggie

The burials have been found as below

The  place of burial for both James and Ann Hargreaves is Kingcross Methodist Church Halifax. grave number 798

James Burial 19th March 1895

Ann Burial 18th July 1896
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Dear all,
I have been to Halifax Archives today and looked through the burial records and plans for King Cross Methodist Chapel.
Unfortunately the plans for the earliest part of the graveyard are missing.(the graves with only a number not a section number and row number.)
So, armed with names and burials of people in nearby graves i went in search of the grave, but unfortunately the section of the graveyard where they are buried is so large that i could not find the plot, even with the help of nearby graves.
I have not given up hope that one day the graveyard may be cleared sufficiently that i can get around and look at each gravestone.
The burial books have now been filmed and are accesible in the library and archive under reel MIC 69
So if anyone wants a lookup done get in touch.
I have photographed the burial maps that are left and this ammounts to 3/4 of the graveyard so plot numbers can be found and possibly gravestones located, although i must stress the graveyard is very badly overgrown in parts and unaccesible due to thick brambles, Ivy and ferns.
Regards,

Andy

Hi Andy,
Thank you very much for hunting thru the graveyard.
Amazing progress has been made- when I first posted this thread I didn't even know where James & Ann were buried and rather depaired of ever finding that out.

Thank you again for your help.

Hi Britexpat,
welcome to RootsChat.
Can you confirm that your ancestors are buried in King Cross Methodist cemetery and not Ebenezer Primitive Methodist where the original graveyard has been built over. You wont be able to send a PM until you have sent in a few posts but a personal request to one of the rootschatters who has access to the cemetery might help. You might do better if you started a new topic
but good luck anyway.
Dave

Hi Britexpat,
I have looked through the records for the date you gave and there were only 2 Robinsons buried during 1938.
they were;
12 May 1938, Sam Robinson, 75 Years, buried sec A 193
30 May 1938, Ellen Robinson, 63 Years, buried Sec E 84.
Have you any more information, i can find any grave in the graveyard, given enough information.
Regards,
Andy
