1914 - ACKERMAN - Susannah - 53 years
[Buried at Karori Cemetery, Wellington on 20 May 1914 ]
Coroner's report (1914) at Archives NZ, Wellington.

PapersPast has details of Susannah's death (various reports) :

"Evening Post" - 20 May 1914 - Fatal Fire
... Died in a fire at a Wellington boarding house ... body of Susannah ACKERMAN  identified by her son Henry Joseph ACKERMAN.  [ "Dominion" 29 May 1915 - names man who died in fire with her, as George WHITE. ]

I am descended from Susannah Ackerman's mother, Ann Allen formerly Goodman nee Nicholls. Ann was my gg-grandmother. She had three Goodman children before marrying Joseph Allen and having a few more children. The youngest was Susannah Allen who married (and divorced) Heinrich (Harry) Emil Ackerman. To my knowledge, Susannah and Harry had 9 children. Great Aunt Susannah was an alcoholic, and worked as a prostitute in Wellington.

Would be great to make contact with both Bruce and Tony as I am a descendant of Henrich (Henry) Emil Ackerman.  Would love to see any photos or information as I add it to my family tree programme as a file and eventually try to make a book but would like lots more information.  I have all the dates for Henry and his family but looking to go further up the tree or even further below to find out where we have all ended up.  I am in Levin - New Zealand, not far from where Henry was buried (I actually grew up in Shannon so find it quite freaky).

Hi, I am very conscious that my reply is over 8 years after Bruce and Moxie 211 posted, but keen to provide what information I have.  I have managed to find a photo of William Thomas Ackerman, very happy to share with anyone- it is sadly from the Police Gazette.
best wishes,
