William Henry Connor
« on: Saturday 12 September 09 21:07 BST (UK) »
I have a death certificate of the above gentleman - d. 15.4.1925 on board SS Clandeboye. He was 60yrs and the Captain of the ship. He was born on 28.3.1865 in Belfast.

His parents were  John and Margaret (nee Kyle) but I cannot find a marriage date - nothing on Em Anc etc.

Can anyone shed any light at all - either parents or info re ship.

Many thanks.

John Connor and Margaret Kyle had 2 sons named William- the one in 1865 and another 5 Dec.1870 so it's likely the 1st one died young. IGI has both, as well as Charles (1864), Rose Ann (1868).
What religion were the Connors? (registration of Catholic marriages started in 1864 so if they married in a Catholic ceremony before 1864 you'll need to see if any church record exists).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Hi aghadowey,

Thanks for that info - how likely is it then that the '60years' (which makes the dob 1865)  is incorrect on the death certificate? His son William signed the certificate so would he have given his father's age?

The Connors were Baptists- doesn't rule out a slight possibility that Margaret converted from RC though!

Ah, been given some incorrect info.

Now had it confirmed that William's father was called James...
