This looks very promising, brother George and father a Boilermaker:

1871 census RG10  Piece 1139 Folio 123  Page 35
Harley Street, Portsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire
JOHNSON
Thomas     head  43 Assistant Boiler Maker
Ann            wife 42
George    son 14  Porter (errands)
Eliza    dau 12 Scholar
John    son  10    "
Harry    son  8     "
Charley    son 3      "
all born Portsea, Hamps.

the family is still there in 1881 but minus George and Harry

You will need certificates to back all this up, will leave you to digest it all!

Kind regards
Barbara

Hi.
This is the family I have been researching for years. Charles & Lydia daughter Lydia married Joseph Oatley.
They had 5 children, when I asked Uncle Joe when his father married he replied”1923 I was best man at their wedding, Charles could not get married to Lydia until Annie his 1st wife had died had died”

Charles Budden lost a leg in an accident, when he was on board ship; a Cable broke & whipped across & cut off his leg. He was a coastguard, as were his brothers see
BRITISH COASTGUARDS 1841 - 1901,

I will send M a P.M I have a lot of info on the family
