Rosie - I have  ;)

I've put a post it note to that effect.

Isn't it a shame we can't do anything about the GRO indexes when we find such errors(and there's plenty of them!)

Hi Carol thanks for the info in the 1901 census she was called edith emily tomkins, and was listed as head of the house in Islington London.
Her date of birth jan to mar 1873in headington oxford
the 1901 census is the only one available after her marriage in 1895
regards maelys

If her surname was Tomkins in 1901 -then she isn't the girl who married William Bowell in 1895 in Headington?

I'm confused  ???

It appears that the family who are headed by Edith Emily Tomkins in 1901 in Islington are in West Derby in 1911.

Dad looks to be John William age 39,Edith is now 38.

Carol

Added- John William Tomkins married Edith Emily Carter in St George Hanover Sq in Dec 1/4 of 1893 ref 1a page 902.

Come on Maelys hurry up and log on  ;D

Can't wait to see if the Edith Chaundy is correct in which case in 1895 she became a Bowell  ;)

Or the 1901 Edith Tomkins is right in which case she used to be a Carter  ;)

Especially after all our sleuthing yesterday lol !

Hi Maelys

Please put us straight ...Edith Emily Tomkins who is in Islington (born Oxford) Do you have her marriage to a Tomkins as I see that is the family you are researching,  or are you trying to work out a possible match for her using freebmd births and the only option that popped us was Edith Emily Chaundy.  ???

Rosie

Hi Carol didn't look at your post before I did this  ::)
