YOUNG family Somerset
« on: Friday 11 September 09 04:21 BST (UK) »
I have an Isaac Young born 18.6.1810. He may be the same Isaac Young baptised in Siston Glouc 15.7.1810 with parents possibly Thomas and Jane Young and siblings Rachael, Thomas and Sarah.
I need to find if this Thomas and Jane moved possibly to Woollard and Belluton (Belton House). My Isaac Young married Jane Perry in 1835. They had 8 children. the family emigrated to South Australia in 1850 on the Ceylon. the only children I know for sure who came with them were my gr grandfather John, William and Isaac came with them. Emily was born in South Australia in 1850.
I am interested in connecting with anyone in Australia who is related. Also in proving who Isaac's parents really were. Isaac farmed prior to 1850 for Edward Leyborne Popham around Pensford. Thank you. Roda

This all fits well with the information from rossliv in Peter's thread re the family in Publow.

baptisms for 4 of them on FreeReg (Isaac was a farmer)

http://freereg.rootsweb.com/cgi/Search.pl

marriages in SA for

Isaac aged 25 in 1861(1836)
John aged 36 in 1874 (1838)
William aged 21 in 1863 (1842)
Thomas aged 34 in 1878 (1844)
James Robert aged 25 in 1874 (1849)
Emily aged 23 in 1874 (1851)

We know Emily was born in SA so it appears the 5 boys emigrated with Isaac and Jane

Cheers Kris  :)

Hi everyone
Thank you for replying to my email. It will be great if Peter will receive my email or read it here as this is the first time I have come across a direct descendant (other than my immediate cousins) of my Isaac Young born 18/6/1810 and I so want to contact whoever it is as you will understand I'm sure.

I am wanting to go back beyond the family over here in Australia (although am interested in any contacts in Australia who may have information on descendents. My objective at the moment is to prove Isaac's parents and find out if they do connect with the large Young family in Somerset - ie back to Aaron Young, his son Richard Young who married Mary Tutt etc.  SRO is about to do some additional research for me in that regard and I will post what I find out when it turns up, if relevant.
Many thanks, Roda
