Robert Brierley/Mary Bancroft
« on: Thursday 10 September 09 00:36 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I am looking for information on Robert Brierley b 1814c and Mary Bancroft b1815c both on 1841 census in Cheadle Bulkley Cheshire.

On census shows Susannah with them on night of census however she is the daughter of William Brierley & Hannah.

Conversely, Emma Brierley b 1838 daughter of Robert Brierley & Mary is with William and Hannah on night of census in 1841. I assume that there is a relationship between William and Robert Brierley but as yet haven't been able to find a connection.

I also haven't been able to find a marriage between Robert and Mary, yet Mary is shown with the name Brierley on the census.

Has anyone come across these names and can offer any help?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi

If daughter Emma was only b 1838, it's highly likely that Robert and Mary married pre- Civil Reg (1.7.1837)

Have you tried this website?

Thanks Carole

Yes have tried that.

I have the birth certificate for Emma. I am assuming that they are related simply because they seem to have each others children on the night of the 1841 census.

Just can't find the connection. I'll keep looking.
