Robert DUNN of Ballarat 1865 Look up Please

My ancestors brother Robert Dunn of Ballarat was mentioned as an executor of my ancestors will in 1865. All I know is Robert Dunn was from Ireland came out to Australia in 1841 with his brothers, his parents were William Dunn and Catherine Millar they lived at Ardground, Derry, Ireland and were farmers. Robert Dunn would probably be born in Derry in 1820s. Him living in Ballarat in 1865 is the last mention I have of him. Can anyone identify this Robert Dunn of Ballarat in any other record or look up his death or find out if he possibly married? Any help to trace his possible descendants appreciated.

In the Vic Pioneers Index, there is a Robert Dunn death in 1871 (Reg no. 2019) aged 50, born TYRO but lists parents as unknown. I looked in the Federation and Edwardian indexes up to 1913 but neither list any deaths for a Robert Dunn with the parents you have listed.

Also in the pioneers index are children born to a Robert Dunn and Catherine McKinley, all born at Ballarat. There is Margaret (1857), Catherine (1858), Lilias (1861), John (1863), William (1867) and Mary (1870). I cannot find a marriage between these two, so they may not be related to the Robert Dunn you are searching for, but just in case I have given you the info.

Whoever gave details Robert Dunn's death in !871 in Victoria, must have known he came from County Tyrone in Ireland, but didn't know the parents names.  So  it is hard to recommended you buying this certificate but it will have his last place of resident on it.

Thanks for checking this, the Robert Dunn death in 1871 (Reg no. 2019) aged 50 would mean born 1821 so perfect fit in age but as you say wrong parents.

I feel Robert Dunn of Ballarat alive 1865 must be William Dunn's died 1865 brother. Why else would he name him executor? So both would have to have parents William Dunn and Catherine Millar of Ardground.

Interesting don't you think that the other Robert and Catherine you found named one of their sons William Dunn b 1867. John Dunn was also used in the family in fact William and Catherine had a son named John Dunn to. The Robert Dunn and Catherine McKinley are certainly in the right area. To bad no wedding cert or that would certainly prove if he was the right Robert. How about a testament for Robert?

What about Ballarat Cemetery would there be a grave for Robert? Where else can the proof be found for the connection to the Ireland William & Catherine?

I think the Tyrone is the wrong Robert Dunn d1871, he must be born in Ardground, Lower Cumber, Londonderry. I want to be sure before buying the cert on line.

I now am sure this is the correct family for Robert Dunn of Ballarat alive 1865:

From the 1865 Testament I have the signature of Robert Dunn.

I found a death of Robert Dunn at Ballarat of 14 Jan 1897 he left his wife Catherine everything and a witness was Margaret Dunn a spinster, their daughter no doubt. The signatures look to be 95% the same for Robert Dunn.

Can anyone check the Ballarat Cemetery for a grave inscription?

Can anyone confirm the name of Robert Dunn's parents from any official source?

Can anyone extend the childrens families of the above couple Robert Dunn and Catherine McKinley?

Margaret Dunn died 1937 (reg # 9300) at Melbourne aged 81

Janet Vippond (f Robert / m Catherine Mckinley) died 1920 (reg # 6851) - have not found a birth or marriage record for Janet
