I would like to see some information from certificates, but as you say the signatures of Robert Dunn on the Will/Probate docuents appear to be the same.

* I can find no death for a Richard in 1920 - ? Transcription error from burial register.  Could this be Janet who died in 1920.   You could enquire at Fawkner.

Mary Vipond died 26/Sept. 1897 aged 56 years. Also Thomas beloved husband of the above d. in England 1908 aged 75.
Another man names Brawn is in the same location.

There is your family of VIPPOND and quite a number of VIPOND'S.  Seems to be two or more different families.  The spelling with the two p's is consistent in your family's entries on the indexes.

The two signatures you have accepted as being from the same Robert DUNN are not the same  I suggest you download, enlarge and compare. I should have done this myself before searching the family further   . 

As Jenn pointed out, the Robert DUNN who died in 1897 was born 1831 and the parents' names don't  match.

My ancestors brother Robert Dunn of Ballarat was mentioned as an executor of my ancestors will in 1865. All I know is Robert Dunn was from Ireland came out to Australia in 1841 with his brothers, his parents were William Dunn and Catherine Millar they lived at Ardground, Derry, Ireland and were farmers. Robert Dunn would probably be born in Derry in 1820s.

I feel Robert Dunn of Ballarat alive 1865 must be William Dunn's died 1865 brother. Why else would he name him executor? So both would have to have parents William Dunn and Catherine Millar of Ardground.

Nowhere does it actually state that Robert is his brother. 

Have you considered the 1871 death detailed in reply- there was an inquest into this death.  Co Tyrone and Co Londonderry adjoin.  Wonder who was the informant and bearing in mind that information on death certificates is only as good as the knowledge of the informant.

Amazing findings on the Vipponds.

I too am searching the Vipponds and would like help clarifying a few things.

Was:
Richard Vippond married to Elizabeth Barnett or Barnard, I have found two conflicting records.

Did they have a daughter Catherine Webster Vippond born in Cape Town South Africa?  How can I find all the children of Richard & Elizabeth?

Was the above Richards father Richard Vippond from Cork?  If so how was the daughter born in Cape Town?

I have marriage certificate for Catherine Vippond:
Catherine Webster Vippond married Alfred George Smith at Church of All Saints Sandhurst Vic on 11th April 1861

Or was Catherine the fathers Sister??? I might be a generation out.

Catherine's father could be Richard Vippond who married Ann Bridgett??

Would love some help and clarification
