My James McIntosh has disappeared!!
« on: Tuesday 08 September 09 14:37 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I have records of James McIntosh born on 18 March 1850, married to Margaret Gordon but cannot find his father, James McIntosh.
This James McIntosh is supposed to be married to Isabel Watt, Have found census on her for 1851
with Ann Watt, James McIntosh (1850) and Alexander Watt (mothers son).
Found another census in 1861, James living with Ann Watt and Alexander Watt(Ann's husband).
Cannot find this boy living with father or married to mother.
Could he have died?
I am going crazy looking for this James McIntosh, not sure if I have the wrong names from someone elses research.
Would I get more info from acual birth/death certs?

Thanks if anyone could help me
Mcaussie

Hi

Firstly do you have James Mcintosh and Margaret Gordons marriage cert?

If so, what does it say for Mother of James ie. Isabel Mcintosh M/s Watt or Isabel Watt?

It may be that James McIntosh senior and Isabel were not married.

Next, what was James seniors occupation?

If you do not have James and Margarets marriage record I would suggest you get it from Scotlands people along with James jnrs death cert in the first instance.

Hi

Thanks for your suggestions.
I am about to change internet provider to much faster one, will go to get birth and death certs after I change email etc.
Have signed up to ancestry.com.au for a while now but have hit a brick wall on that site for more information.

Thanks

Mcaussie

HI
Just an update, have joined Scotlandspeople and got some info but not what I want. Can't find death certs for Isabella Watt or birth certs for James McIntosh. What would everyone recommend I do next?
Thanks all

hi  :)

found a tree here which may be of some help -

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2963475&id=I208

i would check this against what you have already as i don't know how accurate
it is

ev

ps james mcintosh born 1850 would not have a birth certificate on
scotlandspeople as records began in 1855
he does appear on the old parish records for scotlandspeople but if you pay
to view this the info. might be limited to what you know already

Hi
Thanks for the info, Ev I tried to get that marriage cert but it wasn't available. That family tree I have contacted that Mr McIntosh, will have to try again as he lives in Scotland and I think he knows some of my living relations over their. He might be able to find some more info. I am just getting frustrated as I've come to a stop at this James McIntosh and Isabella Watt.
I know this can take years, but like everyone i want the info now!!
Thanks for all your help

McAussie

I had a look at James McIntosh and Maggie Gordons marriage cert (noseyness got the better of me).
and it looks like his parents were not married nor does it look like either were deceased when James jnr got married.

If you pm me your email address Iwill send you the cert.
