I am sorry to but in on this thread of yours, but i was just wondering if the Archibald McLean from Port Charlotte that you are talking about, who died in1881 could have been the one who registered the death of my g(Xxx)grandfather Angus McEachern,d.6 Dec 1862 at Port Charlotte. I only found out about this the day before yesterday, and apparently the death was registered by an Archibald McLean who was a nephew. My Angus' wife,my ggg grandmother, was an Agnes (or Ann) McLean/McLergan.Both born Kilchoman Parish,so Archibald McLean who registered Angus' death is her nephew rather than his.
How common these names were,or how many inhabitants of Port Charlotte there were,I have no idea, but if there is a link here, then I can follow my ggg grandmother's family back using your information.
I'd be very grateful for your thoughts on this, and again - sorry to have butted in!
