I can't find W E Ball in 1911 Irish census. There are (I think) several places called Walsall in England but don't know of any in Ireland. It's unlikely that a Co. Clare landowner would be a driver in Army so I'm wondering if you've found the correct person.

If he was a Major he could have lived in England and had property in Ireland ?

I did find a MajorW H Ball in a Gentlemens  club in London once but i can't remember where i found it .

But like you say in 1911 this one is not listed as a Major .

If he was an Army officer with an estate in Ireland he could certainly lived/been stationed outside Ireland. However, occupation (driver) and initials (WE instead of EH) don't match profile of person you are looking for here. Where did the name of Major come from?

Hi to both of you .

I found Major W H Ball on the Clare library of landowners he was said to be at Kildare ST Club.

Yes Shane  the one you found could be him i'm not disscounting anything. Him being a Major he could have gone on to be a JP.But would'nt he use the title of Major i think they usualy did as it makes you sound more important

If you read through that other thread you will see that the surname was BALL and it was one of your posts that said BELL.
