For other readers

We all use IGI and free bmd GRO website
If you have any GRO cert  info please put in on the free postems on the free GRO website

Its not always a easy decision to make after paying £9 out but if someone had posted their GRO cert info it may have saved you £9 so its swings and roundabouts

Also similar Parish register or Newspaper BMD records of GRO events
can be posted on these GRO postems.

Grave Memoriel Inscriptions or if you see an odd grave dated after 1837 post in free bmd's website

This is an example only

Hi Sandra,

Latest update of probable route back from John Cockroft b 1773

John Cockroft above m Frances sutcliffe. (sexton) 1769

Jonathan b 1726 father Joseph
Jonathan Cockroft above m Phebe Webster 1742

Joseph Cockroft  b 1708 father Joshua

Joshua birth unknown? aprox 1685 ish unlce of Joshua b 1731 below in grave 250 from Grave 250 and 251 and Joshua family name suspect Father John Cockroft b 1659 died 1717
Joshua Cockroft above married Matha Firth 1706 Elland/Bighouse> Woodhouse
problable sister
Margerat Cockroft  b 1787 Father John in Elland parish adode Woodhouse Brighouse
probale brother
John Cockroft  b 1659 d 1717 had a son John Cockroft a bother of Margerat above! (Birth Year Unknown) who married Sarah who died 1765 aged 69 b 1796
Spotland & Ovenden, co.York - settlement John Cockcroft, Sarah his wife and Mary,Joshua (b 1731   died 1801 age 70 Grandson of John b1659-d 1717) , Sarah, John and James their children ( from Lancashire Archives)

John Cockroft above m Ann Taylor 1785 by Licence Allegation Elland/Bighouse Woodhouse Ann died 1708 Warley in child birth

John Cocktroft above 2nd marriage to Mary year unknown-Mary died 1743 aged 68

Christopher Cockroft b 1639 Heptonstall father Henry

No Marriage known as yet for Christopher

There are too many Henry's bapt 1600 +/- 20 year to say which one was Christopher's father

.........................................................................................................................

Other Possible route back is the Joshua b 1670 in Ance*try.co but seems a bit too old to father Joseph b 1708 but can't be ruled out.

............................................................................................................................

I'll see if there are any other possible Joshua Cock(C)roft b 1685ish possible routes back or Baptisms.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi Dave,

Looks like I have replied ok. Don't know if you know or not but there are two Popples, one in Ovenden and one in
Heptonstall.
