Hi Dobby,

Just found Edward Cockroft living at 5  Broad Tree Terrace, on the 1881 census with wife Hannah. he was christined
1817  at zion father James mother Sally. He was a carpet weaver.  He could be cousin to Joseph.  he died 1889
grave number dm 30. Looks like Broad Tree and Broad Tree Terrace are the same place. On the graves it said Broad Tree on the Cenus 1881 Broad Tree Terrace.
james could be brother to my John Cockroft 1776.
Will look further.

As you said this is a hobby. You got a good knowledge of these maps. As I said the enumeration districts in A .co.uk is your wishing well source for at the time info.
Another way is to go a few pages either side and pickup the streets round these locations. For the time being use the 1881 in family search LDS census. Find one in overden then click the next few (10)pages either side and streets. Better still find Hal farm/cottages or houses.

Allow a little time to have a natter with your neighbors and friends though!
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi Dobby
I have already done what you suggest previously,  but I have already ordered the 1851 census books ovenden and I have 1861 census Halifax area which I haven't had time to look at yet, so plenty to keep me occupied. Out all day tomorrow so won't have a lot of time again,
Keep digging,
]Sandra
