If Emily Grace's birthdate was 1907 then she was probably the daughter of his first wife not the second.

You can order the marriage certificate of George Rushton and Gertrude Bell using the reference September quarter 1925 Hull 9d 690 at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ the cost will be £7 and it will give you his father's details as well as his own age, address and occupation.  Witnesses might also be family members.

From the website "but was living with Gertrude Bell in Hull in 1909 when they had their first child"

If, as you say, Emily Grace was born in 1907 then she would still have been the child of the first wife.  Maybe you have dates incorrect.

If you are interested in George's parents then, as previously advised, your first step should be the marriage certificate.

Or the certificate of George Rushton and Rose Annie Chell, details being December quarter 1900 Stoke.T. 6b 395.

Hi both  :)

It seems to me that George and 'Rose Annie' were still living together in 1911 in the Stoke on Trent area - there was also a Jacob Rushton born ca. 1895 at the same address (George's brother I believe) as well as a Gladys Maud age 18.

It seems that Emily Grace’s birth may have been registered with the surname “Bell” as there is this record on the BMD Index:

Births 3Q 1907
Hull Vol. 9d Page 307
BELL, Emily Grace R.

If the other children were registered with the surname “Bell” then you may be able to find some of them on the basis that before 1925 the mother’s surname would also have been “Bell”. On the BMD Index there are 3 such records but as the prople in question may still be living I cannot post details.

Before 1911 the BMD Index does not include the mother’s surname and as there are quite a few “Bell” births registered in Hull between 1907 and 1912 then unless you have some idea of their names it may be difficult to identify Gertrude’s children during this period.

I hope that this is some help to you.

Ivan
