WAAF
« on: Sunday 06 September 09 01:38 BST (UK) »
Hello all,
I'm trying to connect my OH's uncle Ralph Stanley Wallwork to a Edna Julia Mynott, she being in the WAAF 887866 in 1941.
He was in the RAAF based at Binbrook with 142 Sq RAF and a discrepancy has arisen on official documents that they were married..He arrived in UK late 1940 and was KIA July 1941..Other documents say they were only engaged..

His casualty file at the NAA completes with final monies being paid to his mother.

Page 11 (out of 52) has a cypher message:

400360 Sgt Wallwork R. S. Disceased. Wallwork did not marry Miss Edna Julia (OYNOJT...?) but made will in anticipation of early marriage with her.

So as far as the RAAF was concerned it was engagement only.

Later pages refer to the will and it is given in page 16. (Edna Julia Wallwork nee Mynott)

Bart,
Have you seen Uncle Ralph's casulty papers at National Archives of Australia?
In 1943, the authorities seem to have decided that the will made two days before his death ( naming Edna as sole beneficiary) was made in anticpation of a forthcoming marriage.
There is no listing of a marriage on FreeBMD.

thank you both for your answers.
yes i have seen the papers on NAA  hence the prompting of this inquiry.i was hoping to access her service file somehow and possibly put the question to sleep as sometimes war records may not be fully correct.
