Thousands of people across England and Wales will soon get the opportunity to delve into their family history online for free..


The seven institutions soon to launch free access to the census records are:

Birmingham Archives & Heritage
Devon Record Office (Exeter)
The National Library of Wales (Aberystwyth)
Manchester Archives and Local Studies and Greater Manchester County Record Office (sharing one institutional account)
Norfolk Record Office
Nottinghamshire Archives
Tyne and Wear Archives

Before planning a trip, visitors are urged to contact the relevant institution to find out the when the service will be available.

Does that mean That you wont have to buy credits to view a census on Find my Past.Not that i would want to though,I'm quiet happy with a Peep

I havent found a single relative yet on the 1911 census.I think I will wait till its a free look up now,as I just seem to be wasting money at present.

there are a lot of ways of searching the 1911 without paying anything. have a look at some of the threads, i think on the census boards that detail how to do it. once you know its very easy.

On my 1901 census for my Jones family grandads sister Florence was missing.I just typed her name and birth,and found her married.So i was then able to ask for 1901 census and found the whole family.Then typed in on the 1911 census other names and found more then i was sent a brief by another rootschatter and found Annie was still unmarried at home on the 1911 census.So if you fiddle about a bit you might get lucky.
