Thanks very much for these replies.  I had an excellent detailed reply from the Salvation Army Archives in Toronto, and we now know a lot more about this family.  It's always great discovering new branches in new places.  Those Muskokas sound cold!

Fabulous news that they got back to you!

Not sure if you have all these sites where he is mentioned, but just in case
http://www.londoncitadel.ca/ab-history.html

from the Otago Witness ( New Zealand newspaper)
"....The following statement has been forwarded for publication by Colonel Clement: T. Jacobs, chief secretary of the men's social work of the Salvation Army..."
http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&d=OW19071030.2.51

He was certainly well thought of according to this publication  http://www.rootschat.com/links/0bhj/
"COLONEL CLEMENT JACOBS (International Head- quarters). Colonel Jacobs is an able manager, and...
indispensable as the Chief Secretary of the City Colony under the Social Scheme. A great executive officer.
Spent fifteen years in Canada.

I wonder if you are still looking for information on Bella Jacobs who was born in Dundee, Scotland in 1887? Bella died in 1921 in Canada. She married Alex Lyall in 1914 in London. Bella had two children, Dorothea  and Gordon. Alex passed away in California in 1958. I am her granddaughter.

I have heard from David Walsh. From some reason my ability to respond to personal messages is not working.
As David knew, Bella Jacobs (1887-1921) and Alex Lyall (1887-1958) had two children, Dorothea and Gordon.
Dorothea was born in London, July 1915 and passed away in California, January 2003. She married Henry Riedel in February 1945.
Gordon was born in London, May 1917 and passed away in North Carolina, December 1999. He married Dorothy Helmick in October 1944.

Welcome to rootschat! One has to make a certain amount of posts on here before private messaging becomes available. It is said that 3 are necessary, but it was once 2...so am not sure now, which is correct...
Try now and see if it works, but first save the message in a word file before posting...
You can also exchange email addresses in  there, as you mustn't post them live on the site...

Very exciting to hear about the Lyalls.  And thanks to J.J. and LyallJacobs for the posts.  Hopefully it'll be possible to PM soon, and we can introduce you to the rest of the clan!

Best

Dave

Hello everyone, I haven't been on Rootschat for ages and I've been sent a personal message from "Catherine" srko5342outlook.com regarding her Great Grandparents Elizabeth Duncan and William Lyall and the Henderson connection. The thread was JacobsLyall. I seem not to be able to post a private reply. Elizabeth Duncan aged 18 married my Great Great Grandfather James Henderson who was aged 44 in Dundee, Scotland in 1872. She was his fourth wife! If I'm on the correct thread I do have more information on the Hendersons.
