Yes there are 2 Bridgets on boar the 5 October 1840 Elphistone arriving in Sydney.
Bridget Snr  aged 26 was the sister of James Flood aged 30  and his wife Catherine Morrissey. James father was  also James snr and his wife Mary McCabe.

With James was his brother Thomas snr aged 28.

Bridget snr went on to marry George Whittaker and died at Carcour in 1882

Bridget jnr married Royal Atkins and died Carcour 1868.

Thomas jnr married Julia Cullen  and hd 6 children I have all details

James and Patrich both married and I have their childrens names

The family lived around Carcour till 1900s some decendents still around Blayney, Orange

Peter,
I would be interested to see your information on Bridget Whittaker (nee Flood). I am her 3X great granddaughter.

I have her marrying George Whittaker at Patrick's Plains (Parish of West Maitland, County of Northumberland)
on September 22nd, 1843.  George was the father of her first child but every subsequent child of Bridgets is listed
as having Joseph Whittaker (George's brother) as their father...but that is another story.

What I'm really interested in is your recording Bridget snrs death at Carcour in 1882. I have her death certificate
saying she died in Armidale, NSW on March 13th, 1900.  I visit her grave every now and then as I live in Armidale.

Thanks,
Bec

Bridget snr went on to marry George Whittaker and died at Carcour in 1882

I will check further to confirm this is the correct husband of Bridget (snr) sister of JAMES and THOMAS (snr) children of JAMES and CATHERINE

I suspect not.
Bridget Flood aged 26 on the Elphinstone was a servant
who came out as a bounty immigrant.

"Sacred to the memory of George Whittaker who departed this life September 12th 1865
aged 65 years. Also Bridget Whittaker wife of the above died 13th March 1900 aged 81 years"

(take George's information with a grain of salt. I suspect it is Joseph buried there as the details on the headstone
match the details on Joseph's death certificate...it is a long and complicated story that I have yet to complete).

PKKIL's post above also makes no mention of Bridget snr having a brother James.
