Fordingbridge burials
« on: Thursday 03 September 09 09:36 BST (UK) »
Hi, does anyone have access to Foringbridge burials? I recently did a rushed trip to the area but totally forgot to see if the town had a cemetery in addition to the churchyard. Guess what? It did.  In lieu I wondered if anyone could help.

I am looking for the surname Skeats (Skeate, Skates, etc). I am expecting that they may start to appear later in the 1800's. Hopefully someone with a searchable source could handle this rather vague request.

There is a large cemetery just outside Fordingbridge on the road to Stuckton.

Burials there date from about 1880 I think.

Are you anything to do with the Skeates that lived in Breamore in the 1950's ?

Hello, thank you for your reply. I have seen the cemetery in Fordingbridge that you mention and the churchyard (which contains very few burials that can be recognised now).

I did have a branch of my family in Fordingbridge. They were sweeps and lived in various addresses, mainly near the church. I am unsure of their whereabouts as late as the 1950's but it looks quite likely that they would have been relatives. If you can tell me anything of the family in Breamore I will try to trace back. I would like to know if they were their.
Cheers

Hi Freya

The HGS Buriel Index 1400-1841 has just the one for Fodingbridge

25 May 1799-Mary Skeat  (no other info)

There are several for Romsey and Ringwood do you have those ?

Kim
