Hi,
Just wondering if it was possible to find out about the service of Frederick Broomhead (b. 1843) who went to India in the 1860s/70s.  It seems that his wife (Annie Eliza) may have joined him at some point as some of their children were born in India (Ferozepore & Morar Gwailor).

Findmypast will be putting surviving papers online by 2011. If his papers have not survived you will certainly find him in the muster books and pay lists (WO12). These are original documents so you will have to visit Kew or employ a researcher.

These record where each man was on the first of each month. Virtually no FH information was recorded by the army in this period. But you can research the musters and then check church records etc of where he was stationed.

Do you have their marriage certificate? I have not come across a wife of a rank and file joining her husband overseas before. They usually went with him, or she was the widow of another soldier who died in India.
