Lawrence Devine

this isa bit of a long shot but would be glad of any help  in tracing ancesters of my great-great grandfather Lawrence Devine .He was born in dublin about 1840 the only other information that i have is that his father was called Peter.Lawrence was living in England at the time of his death in 1884

do you have any idea of where in Dublin (parish, street, town ) Lawrence was born ?

unfortunatley i don't have any other information.I only know he was born in Dublin from the census records.and his fathers name from his marriage certificate.I know it is a real long shot.

the marriage certificate says he was a labourer whichcovers a whole host of things !!

that does make it difficult

the reason I asked is that people with trades and businesses appear in various trade directories which can be a starting point for a location... worth a try just in case

most are in books - Slater's & Thom's directories

I have a Thom's for 1848 but no Peter Devine listed.

one that I can think of that's available online is Slater's for 1846 - www.failteromhat.com/slater.htm

but note that these directories dont include everyone just nobility, clergy, businesses and trades. Thom's includes street listings but does not list individual details for people in tenements etc
