ancestor with Royal Warrant?

Hi all,

My gggg grandfather George Leggat and his brother owned a Whipmakers shop on Chambers' Street, Edinburgh, which had the Royal Warrant in 1881 as Whipmakers to Queen Victoria, as seen on the attached photo.

Can anyone please tell me anything about the Royal Warrant, if there is any further information I can get about their particular warrant? Any pointers about this would be much appreciated!

The Edinburgh Gazette 21st May 1895.
Mrs. Jane Kilpatrick begs to intimate that she disposed; as at 15th May current, of the business of Whipmaker carried on by her under the Firm name of G.&J. Leggat, Whip and Thong Makers to the Queen at 36 Chambers Street, Edinburgh, to Mr. William McGibbon, who will in future carry on the same for his own behoof, and is authorised to use the same Firm name.

Also, thanks to 'Thunder Monkey' - i think I will give Pippa a call and see what £30 gives me from the archive. The amount I've spent so far with the GRO, I'm sure it might be worth another £30 - my mum's face will light up to see that Royal Crest, lol!!!!

By the way, rang the Royal Warrant Association line for Pippa Dutton (thanks again thundermonkey), you should hear their automated phone service - doubt the plummy tones will even understand my Manc accent....
